Northwoods is exploring the opportunities biochar could present for land managers to bring more woods into better management. This structured workshop will explore the different possibilities biochar presents with a wide range of speakers providing insights on a number of key topics.

The workshop will host a number of speakers in the morning with opportunities for the audience to ask questions of our experts. Northwoods will provide lunch and allow an opportunity to network. The afternoon session will run structured discussions and allow attendees to explore topics in more detail.

Stuart Dainton

Stuart Dainton is Head of Land Management and Estates at the National Forest; a 200 square mile landscape regeneration programme in the Midlands. Stuart is responsible for grant support to landowners to help plant and manage trees across the Forest. Stuart is also responsible for the charity’s own land, which is a diverse range of habitats to demonstrate landscape change possibilities, in support of nature, people and the environment.


Lizzy Read

Lizzy works with small biochar producers in the UK helping to grow the market for biochar products and increase awareness about biochar. When she is not chatting about biochar, Lizzy works part-time as a Sustainability Manager for the Department of Health and Social Care. Her organisation, True-Capture, is committed to increasing opportunities for carbon-sequestration in the UK.


Rosanna Curtis

Rosanna is a Senior Consultant with Reheat, and also Project Manager for the Northwoods Innovation Programme. She specialises in forestry projects, low carbon heat and grant funding.


Neil Harrison

Neil is Director and Co-Founder of Reheat and Northwoods, with 20 years of industry experience in forestry, biomass energy and enterprise in commercial, voluntary and government settings.

Martin Glynn

Martin has over 30 years experience providing consultancy, research and project development services to the forestry industry and related sectors.


The workshop will be open from 9:30 with the event starting at 10:00 and running until 15:30. Join us for a stimulating day with opportunities for questions, lunch, and networking.
