: The Green Wood Centre

£200

Learn how to make a beautiful green wood chair from locally grown hazel, using just a saw, drill and hammer. No previous wood-working experience is necessary and you will be guided through the whole process. Your tutor, Maurice Clother will be on hand to give you as much help as you need.

The hazel poles are harvested using an ancient coppice technique and are completely sustainable. All wood will be provided. If you have a cordless drill, please bring it with you.

Numbers are strictly limited to 8 on this course and it always sells out, so don’t delay if you’d like to come! Please bring your own lunch or eat at our lovely on-site ‘Embers’ café. Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided throughout the day. The end time will depend on how quickly you work. Don’t worry, there’s no rush and you can have as much or as little help as you need to build your chair.

You will likely spend most of the weekend working outside, so please dress for the expected weather. You may like to bring gardening gloves and will need to wear sturdy outdoor footwear. You’ll take your own unique chair home at the end of the weekend – don’t forget to make sure you have space in your car!
