Drawing and mark-making: Finding rhythms and patterns in the landscape

Be drawn into a world of shimmering leaves, weather, wind, movement, space and atmosphere and discover your own library of mark-making using materials found in the landscape. Referencing a broad range of artists working in the landscape, you will collect visual information in the studio and outside to develop into compositions inspired by your garden, park or the countryside. Please note that the exercises focus on monotones.

Ability: Suitable for all
The minimum time required to watch and respond to the video content and complete the tasks is 6 hours. The tutor also recommends how you can develop your work further so that you can continue to use the skills acquired on this course for future projects. Six months of online access to all of the course content.

Rosie MacCurrach is an artist and textile designer, living in Hampshire. Graduating from Chelsea College of Art in 2003 with a BA 1st in Textile Design, specialising in print, Rosie has since worked as a print designer, artist and dyer in fashion, illustration, theatre, film and, more recently, interiors, working as Designer, Head of Studio and Director at Fermoie until 2021.

She spent a postgraduate year at the Royal Drawing School, and a year as Artist in Residence at Great Dixter House and Garden. She has been a visiting lecturer at Chelsea College of Art, and taught at The National Theatre, The Royal School of Drawing, Great Dixter House and Garden, and currently teaches at Hampshire Art and West Dean College alongside her own design and art practice.
